FLAT PIECE

Flat Piece is a sound performance in collaboration with marble Sculptor Johannes Weckl,  commissioned by Sandra and Avram Berkson for Die Andere Seite project in Vienna. The piece was performed live during the opening of the exhibition. 

The piece draws on the notion of discarded marble as source material, transforming “leftover” sounds of sculpting into the basis of a composition. Conceived without knowledge of the sculpture’s final form, the work sonically evokes the atmosphere of the studio, capturing its spatial dimensions through sound. It also plays with the idea of movement—within the physical process of carving and through the manipulation of recordings—creating an interplay between perception, memory, and material transformation.
