RIOS
Invited by Christian Schröder to contribute to the ephemeral record label Love’s Labour’s Lost / Archivo Paradójico, Escobar created a sound piece reflecting on loss and impermanence. The work was pressed onto a single vinyl record and presented on a prepared turntable, sealed with layers of paint so it could be heard only once.
Conceived as a ritual of farewell for her close friend Ríos, the record became a vessel for mourning. Escobar revisited fragments of their shared time — voice messages, music, and videos from their last days together — transforming these traces into a sonic offering. The paint itself was blended with matter that once held his warmth, turning the act of listening into a tactile communion, a gesture of burial through sound and material, allowing memory and absence to take form and dissolve again.
